Teaching Girls to Dare Since 1891

Established in 1891, SMLS has been challenging young women to think expansively and engage fearlessly with a personalized, real-world learning experience that teaches them to see the future as a gift.

Academic Excellence

Our academic program utilizes the highest standard of proven best practices and innovative approaches. We identify each girl's academic strengths and challenges, so that we can support her in achieving success and confidence in her own abilities. We focus on the social, emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing of every girl from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 and work with each girl to ensure she is known, supported and challenged to be her best self.

Unique Signature Programming

Experiential learning is a key component to an SMLS education. Our five Signature Programs in Global Citizenship, STEM and Robotics, Active Healthy Living, Arts and Design, plus a Professional Internship program are all specifically designed to give students opportunities to apply knowledge gained in the classroom to real-world challenges.

Our faculty members are experts in their fields, with extensive experience teaching and learning designed for girls. They get to know each girl and form a personalized connection to help her thrive in her education at SMLS and beyond. Each year, graduates of SMLS’s educational program receive admissions to top-choice universities around the globe alongside scholarships that cumulatively total over $1 million. Graduates from SMLS thrive in life beyond high school as well because they are well-prepared for the real world thanks to the practical components of the school’s programming, including professional internships, foundations in active healthy living, global competencies, and workshops for university preparations.
