JK Students Explore STEM with SMLS Parent

At SMLS, we believe that learning extends beyond the classroom, and one of the most meaningful ways to enhance a child’s education is through the engagement of our parent community. This week, our JK students were treated to an inspiring visit from Amelia’s mom, a chemical engineer, as part of our Mystery Reader program.
She shared a book about different types of engineers, helping our students explore the many ways engineering impacts the world around us. Beyond storytelling, she gave the students a firsthand look at her field, bringing in some of the specialized gear she wears to work.

Moments like these reinforce the value of parental involvement in our school community. When parents share their knowledge, experiences, and passions, they enrich student learning, expose them to new career pathways, and build confidence in young learners. After hearing about the world of engineering, many of our JK students are already dreaming of becoming engineers themselves!

A heartfelt thank you to Amelia’s mom for taking the time to inspire the next generation of innovators.
