Last Friday, the class of JS5J was given a very special opportunity to begin leading the Junior School community. We were becoming House Representatives! It is a program unique to SMLS, involving leadership and responsibility, and we will have the opportunity to organize many events. As we walked to the Student Lounge for Junior School Chapel, we had butterflies in our stomachs, but our excited side was starting to take over. We were going to become the leaders of the Junior School, so it felt right to be excited. As we took our seats in front of the entire Junior School, the role was coming closer by the second. We felt our stomachs flipping as Ms. O’Connor started Chapel. As Ms. Goldie started to announce the House Reps of Brant-Massey, the people of Brant stood up when their name was called. It repeated for the other two Houses, Cartier-Vanier and Grenfell-Alexander. Everyone felt equal excitement as they were given their gold-and-white House Rep pins. As we walked away with pins shining brightly on our tunics, we felt proud and ready to face whatever comes next. Our Junior School Prefects, Hannah and Rania, were on hand to help with the pinning, and many of our 5J parents were able to join us for this special ceremony.
