At St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School, we believe in the power of education to inspire girls to dream big, push boundaries, and shape their future. This year, we are embarking on an exciting journey to create The Lightbourn Library - a transformative learning commons where curiosity thrives, ideas flourish, and girls from JK to Grade 12 gain the tools they need to take on the world.
Designed to serve the diverse learning needs of our girls, this new space will feature:
-
Expanded and curated resources to support academic growth and creativity
-
Advanced technology to foster innovation and hands-on learning
-
Flexible workspaces that encourage collaboration and discovery
Our youngest and oldest students will learn and collaborate together, utilizing resources to help them succeed academically, socially, and creatively, and preparing them for a bright future in a rapidly changing world.
Honoring a Legacy of Curiosity and Creativity
The Lightbourn Library will be named in honor of Ms. Ruth Lightbourn, one of our visionary founders, who fostered a deep love of learning and encouraged students to explore the world with curiosity and imagination. This dedication celebrates her legacy and the spirit of excellence she instilled in generations of students
Why Libraries Matter
Libraries are so much more than a place to check out books. This is especially true for women. For generations, libraries have been a great equalizer across genders, giving access to information, providing resources, and creating opportunities. Libraries are the places where imagination, creativity, and collaboration grow. The Lightbourn Library will give our girls every resource they deserve to discover passions they didn't even know they had.
